PSD (Psychiatric Service Dog)
A psychiatric service dog (PSD) is a trained animal that performs specific tasks to help individuals with mental disabilities like PTSD, anxiety, or depression. Unlike an emotional support animal, a PSD is a working animal protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), giving it public access rights. Tasks can include reminding a person to take medication, providing physical contact to reduce anxiety, and interrupting self-harming behaviors.
